Hackett/Minamyer Controversy

Those that are following the OH2 Congressional race may have heard about this controversy surrounding the Hackett ad and Minamyers questions about the ad. Wizbang offers the best analysis of the situation I've seen...and of course, BizzyBlog jumped in to Wiz's comments with the link to the ad video.

Minamyer isn't questioning Hackett's patriotism or service, he is merely asking some clarifying questions. It isn't a smear job where you manufacture memos or anything like that... Don't buy the fever swamp lefty spin on this one...

Mark's Remarks

Why doesn't Hackett identify himself as a Democrat? Is he ashamed of his party? Why does he show such a flattering picture of George W. Bush? Why does he show combat soldiers without offering specifics of his own heroic deeds?

This is not questioning patriotism, folks. It is questioning honesty and asking for clarification. Hackett has been quoted as saying the Bush is more dangerous than Osama Bin Laden. Why then have such a flattering picture and commentary about George W. Bush? Hackett has said the War in Iraq is a failure...why have such flattering images?

When the Left manufactures National Guard Documents and is revealed as forgers, we get calls of "fake but accurate." When someone simply asks for more clarification and information from a Democrat, we get catcalls of "Don't Question MY patriotism, you chickenhawk!" Whatever happened to simply putting up or shutting up?

The fact remains, Hackett has been a typical tax and spend liberal. Look at his record on Milford City Council. Look at his own flight from the community he supposedly loved to serve, moving to Indian Hill. Hackett has shown himself to use less than ethical practices when Questioning witnesses in depositions (of course, this makes him prime Democrat material, given what is going on with the Roberts situation), having been reprimanded for using coarse language not only on abusing witnesses but also attacking his fellow attorneys.

And, he did paint a deceptive ad on TV, regardless of whether he served in combat or no. Tom Daschle tried the same thing to save his arse in North Dakota. Hopefully the people of the 2nd district will give Hackett the same support as Daschle for his duplicity.
