As I briefly perused the lefty blogosphere to see how they were commemorating the 4th of July, I was shocked at the hate and vitriol out there. Instead of talking about the unity of our Founders and the need for unity today, the need for support of troops, the Lefties talked out of both sides of their mouths, saying support the troops but casting doubt on why we are in Iraq.
More and more, I am being led to the conclusion that not only are these liberals not supportive of the war, but they are not supportive of our troops. First, their dichotomy of so-called support subtly calls the intelligence of our troops into question, ie, that the troops can't help it, they were duped into joining by promises of college, etc. Nothing could be further from the truth. Having talked to recruiters before and during the War on Terror, every recruiter goes through what could happen. Having talked to many of our young people today, many of whom are talking of signing up, they talk about serving the nation. However, the fever swamp libs out there just want to malign them as dumb hicks or downtrodden inner city people duped into service. Our men and women in uniform are not stupid people. They may not be effite and sip dom perignon, but they are in fact smart people, the best in the world.
Secondly, the libs refuse to understand that their words are being used against our troops and in support of the terrorists. They refuse to take responsibility for their words and actions. They only cry out, "it's my right, freedom of speech....I can do what I want..." However, there is more than freedom of expression at stake here. With rights come responsibilities. Your rights to ***ch and moan end where our troops are concerned. They lift up the spirit of FDR and the like in their screeds, etc.; but FDR looked down on those loose lips that sink ships. The terrorists are holding up the ignorant and misinformed words of Dick Durbin, Newsweek, the New York Times, and others demoralize our troops.
The same people who lost the war in Vietnam by calling our troops babykillers and allowing the media to determine the fate of our soldiers, are the same people looking to do the same thing today. They chide our President and leaders for not learning the lessons of Vietnam, of repeating the mistakes. Not so. Our military leaders and the President HAVE learned. It is those on the Left who call our troops Nazis, gulagkeepers, Maoists, torturers who have not learned. The VietCong used the inept and stilted reporting in the press to torture prisoners of war and to change public opinion. The Cong frequently would target things when the press were in the area for maximum effect. The terrorists are doing the same. They are just as duplicit, but the liberal way is to believe anyone but their fellow citizens, simply because of ideology. The Left, which claims toleration extreme, is so intolerant they would subjugate the success of our troops and their safety simply because they disagree with an ideology.
The terrorists know this of the libs. They use it to their advantage. If the Left in this nation truly cared, they would save the debates over why or whatever until the job is done. They would not allow the enemy to use their words against our troops. They would not let the enemy to get away with PR. We have it directly from the mastermind, UBL that his strategy is to use the media to wear down the Americans, to show them to be paper tigers. Sadly, some in our country are joining in his efforts. May God have mercy on us, and more importantly, on them for their, quite frankly, treasonous actions.
