I'm getting a couple of hits from Google of folks looking for information on Rush's "smear" of Paul Hackett on his show yesterday.
I read a "transcript" as provided by Daily Kos somewhere out there in the blogosphere, and I think I know what this is about.
For the record, I did have the Rush Limbaugh show on yesterday, but I did not hear the comments being referenced.
Limbaugh takes a call from a Navy veteran wherein Rush learns from the caller that Hackett is a Civil Affairs Officer. To which Rush says/asks that Hackett is considered a "staff puke." It has been brought to my attention, and perhaps our local Navy guy can confirm, that the "staff puke" reference is actually an enlisted person's terminology for someone with a desk job nowhere near the front lines.
At any rate, I don't think it was appropriate for Limbaugh to make the comment. Furthermore, Rush's caller led him astray. It looked to me that the caller was alluding that Hackett did not serve in a combat zone, which he most certainly did. Hackett is many things, among them is combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
