Smacking FEMA Some More

Via the WMD Mailbag, we learn that the Boston Globe Associated Press (AP) is trying to frame FEMA.

Sure. It is an interesting article. But the problem that I see with it is that it doesn't include the actions taken by the mayor and the governor...no mention at all about when their requests for federal assistance came in... As you know, the feds can't take over until the state okays it. Posse Commitatus is the law. Therefore, any time line that doesn't include this information fails to provide sufficient context from which to assess the situation objectively...which really isn't the Boston Globe AP's forte anyway.

Do I think FEMA performed it's function well? Hardly. But let's not allow partisan passions to run wild here...

8:50AM Update

A Yahoo News Alert from last night:
NEW ORLEANS (AP) Mayor Ray Nagin has instructed law enforcement and the U.S. military to forcefully evacuate New Orleans residents who refuse to leave.
See what I mean about the timeline now? The local and state officials are the ones calling the shots...

10:45AM Update

Kevin Irwin corrects me in the comments that this was an AP story, not a Boston Globe story. My bad...it all looks the same to me, man... :)
