From the Washington Post:
"Abu Ghraib ruined the reputation of the Americans in Iraq and to me this is even worse," Faiz Mohammed told The Associated Press from northern Kunduz province. "This is against Islam. Afghans will be shocked by this news. It is so humiliating. There will be very, very dangerous consequences from this."See if this makes sense to you...
A cleric in Kabul, Said Mohammed Omar, said, "The burnings of these bodies is an offense against Muslims everywhere. Bodies are only burned in hell."
If the Taliban represents Islam gone wrong, why would Afghanis be concerned if bodies were burned? Seems to me that the Taliban would be going to Islam's hell in the first place, so why get all upset over this? The so-called humilitation isn't directed at Muslims who aren't hell-bent on destroying the progress made in Afghanistan.
I still don't condone the action, but I find all this Taliban loving a bit disturbing...
