This is CNN:
A U.S. citizen was found guilty Tuesday of joining al Qaeda and plotting to assassinate President Bush. Can we question this guy's patriotism without the Democrats and the ACLU throwing a fit?
Ahmed Omar Abu Ali, 24, of Virginia, was a trained terrorist who betrayed the United States because he was intent on "killing the leader of the infidels," U.S. prosecutors said during the trial.
Abu Ali confessed, but the defense said he was tortured in jail in Saudi Arabia where he was arrested in 2003. Prosecutors said the confessions were voluntary.
The federal jury rejected Abu Ali's claim that he was tortured by Saudi authorities in order to get a false confession out of him.
Ali could be sentenced to life in prison after being convicted on the felony charges.
Besides being accused of conspiring to assassinate the president, he also was charged with conspiracy to commit air piracy and offering aid to and receiving financial assistance from members of al Qaeda.
"He betrayed his country by joining forces with our most lethal enemy overseas," said Assistant U.S. Attorney David Laufman.
If this guy gets to see daylight again his punishment will have been too light.
