ElBaradei Doesn't Get It

Quoth the man whose job it is to stop countries from developing nuclear weapons:
On Saturday, the same day UN nuclear watchdog chief ElBaradei received the Nobel peace prize, he appeared to warn Israel not to bomb Iranian atomic reactors.

"You cannot use force to prevent a country from obtaining nuclear weapons. By bombing them half to death, you can only delay the plans," he was quoted as saying by the Oslo newspaper Aftenposten. "But they will come back, and they will demand revenge."

The report said ElBaradei did not mention Israel, but it was clear he was referring to its increasingly open discussion over whether to protect itself by bombing Iranian nuclear facilities.
First of all, you most definitely can use force to prevent a country from getting nuclear weapons. Israel prevented Saddam Hussein from getting them when France provided Iraq with the neccessary tools.

Iran would be a tough target for Israel...it is that much farther away...but I don't count the Israelis out...they have the most to lose.

Now, to the second half of that statement...the part about demanding revenge... Israel took on most of the Middle East back in the 70's...who here thinks that Israel would have much problem doing the same today? I'll grant you, it would be a hard and brutal war, but I don't think that ought to be what decides whether or not Israel protects itself against the potential of a nuclear strike. Iran's president has already declared that he wants to see Israel wiped off the map. The threat has been made. Israel shouldn't be expected to welcome the Glow...
