HillRod and China

You cannot have it both ways.

It seems HillRod recently wrote a letter to President Bush urging him to address the human rights violations occurring in China in anticipation of his trip there. Among the abuses HillRod noted was China's one child policy, which she called a "fundamental injustice," the communist country's restrictions on religious freedom and worker's rights, and the oppression of Tibet. However, the first violation of human rights HillRod emphasized was China's forced abortion policy. She wrote that the Chinese government is using "psychological and economic pressure and threats to force women to terminate pregnancies."
Now, this is a worthwhile line for the President to pursue. However, Mrs. Clinton is hardly the person to be so socially conscious, as the NY Sun article praises her for being. Why? Because HillRod has long supported full funding of the United Nations Population Fund, which gives US taxpayer dollars to China's population control efforts. She even offered an amendment to the Senate Foreign Operations Apropriations Bill for FY2006 to restore funding to this pro-abortion controversial program.

Gee, Chinese women should not be pressured into abortions, but it is OK for NARAL to do the same thing, eh?
