McEwen is Running

I have a well-placed source who spoke to Bob McEwen today. My source says that McEwen is definitely running in the primary against Jean Schmidt.

Furthermore, my source indicates that there might be a "February surprise" that will swing the race towards McEwen. This tidbit seems a bit "fantastic" to me and I'm not real sure how much of this is real and how much is wishful thinking.

Apparently, Jean Schmidt's name will surface along with the names of Tom Noe and Larry Householder. The news will not be pretty. My source used the word "indictment", but I don't see how the source could possibly know the schedule of such an event.

Opponents have spent a lot of political capital trying to tie Schmidt to Noe with none of it sticking. I'm not real sure how much of this I buy, but you heard it here.

12/14 Update

Eric Kephas from Project Logic reacts here. Suffice it to say that he finds the idea of a February surprise as unlikely as I do.

12/14 - 11:25AM Update

If this is what all the hubbub is about, it's time for McEwen to go back to the drawing board.

12/14 - 7:55PM Update

I heard from my source again this late this afternoon: this isn't about Bengals tickets but rather a(n) alleged illegal campaign contribution(s). Apparently, this investigation has been going on since before the special election, but this is the first I've heard about it.
