Moving the Goalpost Update...

In their response to the President's news conference, dem Senators, including Sen. Levin, talked about the need for the President to get the Iraqis to amend their constitution. OK, let me get this straight. The same people who say it was wrong or us to "invade a sovereign nation and install a new government on our own" now what us to interfere in an elected government's affairs by forcing them to amend their own voted upon Constitution? Anyone see any intellectual honesty or consistency in this argument? Anyone?

The President on amending the Iraqi Constitution, Mr. Levin (maybe you should actually listen to what he says):
there is an opportunity to amend the constitution. You remember that was part of the deal with the Iraqis, in order to get this process moving. And we'll want to make sure we're monitoring and involved with that part. In other words, involvement doesn't mean telling the sovereign government what to do; involvement means giving advice as to how to move forward so a country becomes more unified. And I'm very optimistic about the way forward for the Iraqi people.
