stories like this one. Apparently a meteoroid crashed in to the moon and a guy with a telescope saw the whole thing.
"People just do not look at the moon anymore," said Dr Suggs, of Marshall's engineering directorate.
"We tend to think of it as a known quantity. But there is knowledge still to be gained here."
NASA intends to learn something from the experience and put that knowledge to use in protecting astronauts who will someday return to the lunar surface for an extended period of time.
