The Devils and Mrs. King

Matt posted earlier on the horrendous spectacle of the Coretta Scott King funeral. I just had to get in my two cents.

First of all, Jimmy Carter has an awfully interesting view of history. He did not tell the whole story about wiretapping, like his own administration's use of wiretapping, or that the wiretapping he mentioned as a dig at GWB was instituted by John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy, two liberal icons. Yes, folks, I hate to break it to you, but the Kennedys feared Dr. King. They wanted to keep him in check. And they used J. Edgar Hoover to do it. Yes, the so-called civil rights leaders and New Frontiersmen used illegal wiretapping to keep an eye on Dr. King. It was not a Republican. It was in fact a Democrat. However, JimmyBoy just ho-hummed past that.

And, let's talk about making America better. Whose Presidency was defined by "malaise?" Whose Presidency was defined by "444 days?" Whose Presidency responded to Soviet Expansionism by crying and saying, well, we will just boycott the Olympics, that will show them Russians!. Whose Presidency had long gaslines? Who as President will go down in history as the OB GYN of modern islamofascism, giving birth to the fundamentalist regime in Iran, choosing to not support either the shah or democratic movements, but instead to let the terrorists take over? Who was such a miserable failure as a President that he had to start building houses for the poor to rehabilitate his image? What ex-President said about Hamas that "they may be terrorists but at least they aren't corrupt?" Yep, it was Jimmy Carter.

What does this tell us? This tells us that Jimmy Carter has no clue, that he is a clown, and that he has no right to criticize a successful President, like one who got reelected (Jimbo, just so you know, that is when the American people think you did a decent enough job to continue.)

Now, on to the good reverend Lowery. OK, you talk about poverty and such. Why are you wearing such an expensive suit? Why aren't you giving that money for your clothes to the poor? Why aren't you doing something? Why does government have to do it all? I mean, 7 trillion dollars under the Great Society and we have a black community in just as much, and more of a crisis since the implementation of the useless Johnson programs that made Uncle Sam into a Sugar Daddy sitting on the street corner passing out cash for support. Rev. Lowery, your colleague Dr. King spoke of people taking responsibility for themselves, of taking the initative to make change, not waiting on the government or begging the government to institute change. He invoked people taking action. Not being subjected to the government dole to survive.

And as for the no WMD argument, according to my sources, that story is still open and up for debate. With the revelations of Saddam's former general that they were taken to Syria, not to mention the work of Stephen Hayes, as well as the House Intelligence Committee having new info about where the weapons were/are, I don't think you have authority to judge on that subject. You have shown yourself to be a clown.

The real losers here, of course, are the King family. Their father is taken violently. Their mother dies from illness, and a former President and a trusted colleague take the time allotted to eulogize Mrs. King to instead make political potshots at the current President.

These are the vanguard of the Democrats of today. They have no shame, no class, no respect, no manners. I was always taught that funerals, wakes, memorials, etc. were about remembering the dead, about helping the families in their grief. But not to Democrats. Nope, its time to demagogue! It is time to pimp out the corpse for political gain! It's time to play the race card and pimp the corpse for more social programs and to hate on the opposing viewpoints!

Really respectful, really classy. Really a joke! Keep it up, Dems. More people will see this as just as offensive and tasteless as the Wellstone funeral, as Matt described. African-Americans and all those who respect the King family should be insulted and mortified that the beloved widow of Dr. King was pimped out to screech lines from the moveon.org talking points! The real white devils are not GWB and his like, but rather those who stretched out hands feigning friendship but creating dependency, subjugating an entire society to the government dole rather than empowering them. People like Jimmy Carter, who talked a bad game, and played it worse.

MSNBS Update

The Rev. Lowery needs to read some of the Scriptures about honesty and integrity. On MSNBC, he tries to defend his comments by saying,
Well, my remarks were not about the president, nor about me. They were about Mrs. King and what she stood for and conversations we had had about war and the weapons of mass deception.

Of course, Coretta Scott King could not be reached for verification. But wait, the using the dead as an alibi continues, in its distasteful worst--Tucker Carlson asks the question, and Lowery's response is an insult to the average person's intelligence:
CARLSON: Of course, she was against war. Most people are against war. But you made a very specific reference to this war and a controversy that surrounded our entrance into it.

You said, quote, “We know now there were no weapons of mass destruction over there. Coretta knew and we knew there were weapons of misdirection right down here.”

It‘s not hard to hear that and not draw the obvious conclusion that that‘s an attack on President Bush, which of course is your right to do, and I think completely fair. But again, it seemed very uncomfortable to say something like that in a funeral with the president right there. It seemed like bad manners. LOWERY: Well, I don‘t think so. I certainly didn‘t intend for it to be bad manners. I did intend for it to—to call attention to the fact that Mrs. King spoke truth to power. And here was an opportunity to demonstrate how she spoke truth to power about this war and about all wars.

Unadulterated BS. Mr. Carter and Rev. Lowery have shown themselves to be tactless, classless, mannerless caricatures who shamed what should have been a soulful gathering by engaging in partisan hackery by using her funeral as a pulpit for hate of the President.
