Public concern over Iran’s nuclear program has risen dramatically, the latest national survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press found. Fully 65 percent believe that Iran represents a major threat to the United States. And the number who point to Iran as the country that represents the greatest danger to the United States has tripled since October. The interesting follow-up question would have been, "...and what should the President do about this threat?" The numbers on that would have been very interesting.
Highlights of the national opinion research:
Overwhelming numbers believe that if Iran were to develop nuclear weapons it would likely launch attacks on Israel (72 percent), and the U.S. or Europe (66 percent). There is even greater agreement that a nuclear-armed Iran would be likely to provide nuclear weapons to terrorists (82 percent).
