We are being opposed by people who claim to be on our side, the establishment of the Republican party, led by Mr. Bob Bennett. This man, and his counterpart on the Left, Chris Redfern, want to destroy the open primary process by crushing candidates early. Like him or not, Paul Hackett was treated horribly by a party that regarded him as a superstar, then spat him out. In the Ohio GOP, stalkinghorse candidates who have no chance of winning, but a great chance of dividing the anti-establishment vote away from real viable alternative candidates, are being used. The Ohio GOP will not publicize county endorsements that don't fit with what they want. They will force local county parties to script out "free, fair, and open" endorsement meetings to get their way (see Hamilton County!). They will funnel money and force elected officials to tow the party line to get a weak candidate who over 80%of Ohioans think should be removed to maintain the nomination.
Well, folks, I am calling on all of us who call ourselves Conservatives, who are sick of the Ohio GOP ruining and spitting on the founding ideals of the party, to step up. I am calling you all out. Some of you have been hesitant about endorsing candidates or advertising for them, in some cases for fear of retribution or no longer getting listened to by the Ohio GOP. My question to you is: how much worse will it get? They don't listen to us now. Oh, they hear us, but they don't listen. The time has come to take our party back. The time has come to make a move. And I am calling on all members of this newly formed SOB Alliance, I am calling on all Conservative bloggers who understand the significance of Ohio to the Conservative movement, to step up and support a real alternative to business as usual. I am calling on you all to endorse and advertise for William Pierce for Senate.
Let me say a few things first. This post was made without the approval of my cohort, Matthew Hurley, who works as a blog administrator for Bill Pierce. It was done without anytalking with Bill Pierce over this matter. In looking at the campaign, I see Bill Pierce with the ideas, the dedication, and the concern that has carried him all over Ohio to talk with folks. From David Smith, I see misplaced arrogance from a man who has been defeated in about 3 or 4 states and didn't garner more than 8% of the vote in the last election he ran. In John Mitchel I see a bitter man who is in this for him, not the voters or to make a change. Only in Bill Pierce do I see a man who can make a solid change, and who will not forget about Ohio once he is in Washington. In fact, he has pledged not to. He will visit the counties during his term to meet up with folks. He will not just run an office of synchopants who routinely hang up on constituents as Mr. DeWine does. Tell me, aside from Hamilton and Franklin Counties, when was the last time you saw Mike DeWine?
The time has come. If we are ever going to purge our party of the "win first, ideals don't matter" crap that has consumed it, let's start now. Let's get behind this man. Mike DeWine has taken Ohio for granted for 12 years, let's not give him another 6 to pad his resume and assure himself of the plum retirement package. Let's get him out and get back to citizen legislators. I call upon all members of the Alliance, and I call upon Matt to put up an advertisement for Bill Pierce, because this good man is fighting a giant monolith of a great party gone wrong, the Ohio GOP. If we are going to make it right, it starts with Ken Blackwell for Governor and Bill Pierce for Senate. If we are ever going to show the suits in Columbus that Conservatives can no longer be taken for granted, stand with me and give some space, endorsements, and if possible more resources to this man fighting the giant monolith.
We need to keep fair and open primaries, and to have viable alternative candidates. The whole "backdoor" politics that Bennett and Co. approve of is an anachronism of the 19th century, and shows laziness on the part of the citizenry. Let's rise up and be counted! God bless, and God bless America!
DISCLOSURE: My colleague Matthew Hurley is blog administrator for Pierce for Senate, and the posters of WMD have unanimously endorsed Mr. Pierce for Senate vs. Mike DeWine.
