McEwen, "Mean" Jean, and that Cake

It is no secret that the WMD editorial board isn't exactly in McEwen's corner in his race against Jean Schmidt. We received some brilliant analysis that I wanted to share... From the WMD Mailbag:
[McEwen's] purposeful association with The Blower and COAST makes his campaign theme of "restoring dignity" a joke.

He was there yukking it up with everyone else when Brinkman cut off Schmidt's head on a cake.

No big deal? Follow me:
- On January 9, while she was either in or on her way to Iraq, the Whistleblower said "Some folks are worried "Mean Jean" could even be abducted by terrorists. But even more people are worried that she might then be released."

- There is humor and there's unspeakable meanness. What happens to people who are kidnapped in Iraq? Think Nick Berg; they're beheaded.

- So the Blower's saying that if kidnapped it would be nice if she stays kidnapped, people who are kidnapped tend to have their heads cut off, and Brinkman figuratively cuts off Schmidt's head on a cake in the presence of the Blower, the COASTers, and McEwen. (One understands why Schmidt blew a gasket when you see the full scenario. It's also NOT inconceivable that someone could have seen what Blower wrote and
decided that targeting Schmidt for a kidnap might not be a bad idea).
All of this brings mean-spiritedness to a new level, and Bob McEwen has willingly associated himself with it. How that is consistent with his professed Christianity I will never know. BobMcEwen.org, the blog that is apparently not active yet, has the WhistleBlower as one of its links.

As long as it is, he's associated with everything the Blower says and does, just as AARP was associated with "screw 'em" Kos for a short time at its Social Security blog until there was a firestorm of protest and they removed the links. Again how the soft-porn Blower, who has open contempt for the fundamentalist wing of the GOP, is consistent with his Christian beliefs is a mystery.
For all the nonsense we've been hearing about how Schmidt has embarrassed the district, the shameful performance by the "establishment" has been nothing short of disgraceful.

I'm beginning to think that this crowd has more and more in common with the fever swamp liberals. Like them, this group has a terrible habit of projecting their problems on to others and hoping that the electorate doesn't notice. It isn't a smart bit of strategery...
