Republicans for Black Empowerment Announces Its Creation

Via the WMD Mailbag:
During this month of February, commemorating black history, thousands of political activists take great pleasure in celebrating the return of an increasing number of African-Americans to their political home, the Republican Party.

In the same spirit, Republicans for Black Empowerment, after several months of communicating and rapidly growinginto a viable network recently became an officialorganization, creating its Executive Committee on January 17, 2006.

Before the 2004 presidential elections, through the wonders of the Internet, activists from across the country began sharing ideas on how to encourage blacks to join the GOP and relating their own experiences within the RepublicanParty.

Republicans for Black Empowerment will strive to offer anassociation for independent minds whose primary mission isto liberate African-Americans from an ideology that overfour decades has restricted their economic and politicalprogress.

Among the major goals of Republicans for Black Empowermentare to provide cohesion for conservative thinking people and educate the black community to the political virtuesof free enterprise, limited government and personalresponsibility.

Its expanding coalition of grassroots activists willadvocate for federal policies to reduce black dependencyon government and protect traditional family values. Republicans for Black Empowerment plans to seek and supportthe candidacy of individuals who adopt these ideals.

Since education will be paramount to achieving these goals,Republicans for Black Empowerment will periodically convenepublic forums across the country to inform the blackcommunity of proposed legislation affecting their lives. The organization will also aggressively mentor youngpeople by starting College Republican chapters at Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Our good friend Steven Kelso is associated with this group, so I know they are going to go far and have a tremendous impact. This is great news!

Mark's Remarks

It is about time. Republican blacks have been relegated by their more loudmouthed, hate-filled counterparts on the Left for some time. It is about time they organized into a group to get the truth out, that black Republicans are not some group of Uncle Toms saying "yessir, nosir, yes'm" but are some of the most decorated and highly intelligent people out there. It is about time we rise against the intraracial oppression of the NAACP and Julian Bond and show that you can still be black and be Republican, that you can still love your heritage and be a conservative. Bryant Gumble need not apply.
