Ann Coulter Idiotarian Update

Yes, Ann is still an idiot. And so is Human Events for publishing much of her screeds lately. Before I get to the latest thread of idiocy, let me say that I used to be a fan of Ms. Coulter. I thought her work in Treason and Slander were very good, used irreverent humor with cold hard facts. Well, ever since her last book, and a little before Harriet Miers, Ann has used the very tactics she abhors in her first two books, character assassination and taking quotes out of context. In addition to her recent description of arabs as ragheads, Ann has a column out about the port deal. Here are the latest showings of her growing idiocy and lack of ethic:
Bush has painted himself into a corner on this issue, and he needs a face-saving compromise to get out of it. Here's my proposal: Let Harriet Miers run the ports.
Isn't it enough that we're already patronizing the savages over the cartoons? Do we have to let them operate our ports, too?

The Bush administration defended Muslims rioting over cartoons, saying, "We certainly understand why Muslims would find these images offensive." Hey, while they're at it, why don't they invite some Muslim leaders with well-known ties to terrorism to the White House for a reception? Oh wait, I forgot ... They did that right after 9/11.

Ms. Coulter is wrong, wrong, and wrong again. First, her Harriet Miers references are old and tired. Let's speak to that a minute. Ann, who supposedly voted for George W. Bush, engaged in personal smears by saying that Bush must be binge drinking again for even suggesting Miers. That is something worthy of Howard Dean to say. Next, in this column, she says we approved of the Muslim violence over the cartoon. She uses part of a quote from the White House to justify her case. What she didn't use, was the condemnation of violence as an expression of being offended. What she has done in this column is worthy of Michael Moore and the New York Times, or as she calls it, the Treason Times.

Ms. Coulter, and by association, Human Events, have shown themselves to be little more, at least on the editorial pages, than the mainstream media with a right bent. They will misquote, smear, and slander if they don't like something. That is not reasoned debate. That is not even honest disagreement. It is the debating and arguing tactics of a five year old, or your average moveon.org reader.

I mean, you know, conservatives are supposed to be the ones who use facts, not fear and smear. Ms. Coulter, whether you are for or against the port deal, is light on facts, long on smear. She must truly have studied the liberal press alot, maybe too much; for she is sounding like them more and more and using their tactics.
