HR 1606 Online Freedom of Speech Act

My fellow MVCAer Tim Holloway passed this along to me:
Hey gang.

The House Administration Committee just unanimously reported Jeb Hensarling's Online Freedom of Speech Act (H.R. 1606) to the House floor, and it looks like Leadership may schedule it on the floor next week. This bill, which is also included as part of the "Pence-Wynn" campaign finance bill (H.R. 1316), would exclude Internet communications from the meaning of "public communication" under certain federal election laws. In short, this bill is aimed primarily at protecting bloggers from being regulated as campaigners who are subject to a litany of prohibitions and restrictions under current law.

Anyway, Rep. Hensarling would like to gather as long a list as possible of outside entities and bloggers in support of the Online Freedom of Speech Act. So, whether you think you may have already done so or not, in the next day or so, could you please email me and Jamie Notman with Rep. Hensarling (jamie.notman@mail.house.gov) an official statement of support or even just a note allowing us to use your name in our public communications on the bill. We would very much appreciate it.

Also, feel free to forward this email to anyone who you think might support our efforts here.

Take care and thanks--

Kos and (more importantly) Krempasky are supporting this effort, so sign me up as well. My emails will be going out here shortly.
