The US has lost 12 soldiers so far this month in Iraq.
In the month of February, the US lost 58 of its finest in the War in Iraq.
As sad as these numbers are, we are seeing a low number of US fatalities since the media declared a Civil War in Iraq.
The average US fatality number for the last month and a half in Iraq is 1.63 which makes it the lowest average since March of last year and one of the lowest fatality periods since early in the war.
If the figures for March continue (0.92 average for the month so far) they will be the lowest number of fatalities for US forces in Iraq in over two years (0.79 fatality average in February of 2004).
Now first let me agree with Gateway in that any loss of life is sad. But let's look at historical comparison. WE are at war. The casualty rates for other wars per month does not even come close. Yet, the media continues to use graphic images (but never showing us the graphic images from 9/11, they are too sensitive, but our soldiers dying are not, evidently) and spin to try to win this war FOR THE TERRORISTS.
Secondly, it appears that the rumors of Civil War are greatly exaggerated. When the Dome Bombing happened, the Washington Post and other GROSSLY overreported the casualties:
BAGHDAD, Feb. 27 -- Grisly attacks and other sectarian violence unleashed by last week's bombing of a Shiite Muslim shrine have killed more than 1,300 Iraqis, making the past few days the deadliest of the war outside of major U.S. offensives, according to Baghdad's main morgue. The toll was more than three times higher than the figure previously reported by the U.S. military and the news media.Egads! It must be the Ft. Sumter of the Iraq Civil War, right? It must be like 1st Manassas, right? Wrong!
The Post cited figures from the Baghdad central morgue in its report on deaths in the violence since a Shiite shrine was destroyed. But a morgue official says as of Sunday night it had only received 249 bodies tied to the violence.
So, it seems that more of the blatant attempts to turn the war to the jihadists by the media. In the old days, this would amount to sedition, possibly treason. However, in the PC world of today, this is what passes for balanced journalism.
Oh, and guess what? It seems the Iraqi armies and police are being trained effectively, very effectively based on what the British are saying:
From the BBC:
The reduction will be "several hundred and probably around 800", said BBC defence correspondent Paul Wood.
The minister will also reveal to the House of Commons plans to relocate forces from certain parts of the country over the next few months.
Lt Gen Nick Houghton, the UK's senior commander in Iraq, had told a newspaper they could withdraw by 2008.
The BBC correspondent said the forces to be withdrawn could comprise Army trainers of the Iraq security forces.
From another article:
Britain will cut its forces in Iraq by 10 percent — a reduction of about 800 troops — by May because Iraqi security forces are becoming more capable of handling security, Defense Secretary John Reid said Monday.
Oh Lord, you mean the media is again not reporting the GREAT NEWS coming out of Iraq in a proper way? I am shocked and appalled. You know, I don't care what side of the aisle you are on, you would think you would want the truth about our friends and family's efforts in the war, to make an accurate opinion. However, the MSM thinks we are sheep to be manipulated and continues to throw this garbage to us. We need to hold them accountable for their seditious and at times traitorous acts. It needs to begin going beyond just changing the channel.
Why all the overestimation on the negative side by the media? Like Katrina, the media has joined Hillary and Co. to seek out any means to make the administration look bad. They will say they are inept and should have done more while Blanco and Nagin get passes, and they will refuse to report the true numbers that tell the true story of what is going on in Iraq. The country is done a disservice by these clowns who claim to be journalists, when all they are is a modern day pravda for the political left.
