An email from Majority Leader John Boehner's office...
House Republicans are working to address high energy costs in order to help working families, safeguard our economy, and build a better energy future. Today the House is taking another big step in addressing this issue by considering the American-Made Energy and Good Jobs Act (H.R. 5429), introduced by Resources Committee Chairman Richard Pombo (R-CA). This bill will authorize environmentally safe energy production on just 2,000 of ANWR's 20 million acres using 21st Century technology.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) recently said Democrats want to help "provide real solutions that will lower the price at the pump." Now is their chance. The following are five questions for Nancy Pelosi and her Capitol Hill Democrats to gauge their interest in helping House Republicans provide comprehensive energy solutions. How will they respond?
Will you and your Capitol Hill Democrats support legislation backed by major labor organizations, such as the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, to increase domestic energy supplies and create jobs for their workers?
Will you and your Capitol Hill Democrats support environmentally responsible legislation backed by a majority of local Alaskans that allows them to use their own land to create jobs and provide funding for water and sewer systems, health care and schools?
Will you and your Capitol Hill Democrats support legislation that will safeguard America's economy by producing 1.5 million barrels of oil per day, roughly equivalent to what we import from Saudi Arabia daily?
Will you and your Capitol Hill Democrats support a $728 billion investment in America's economy that will help lower prices at the pump and strengthen America's energy security?
Will you and your Capitol Hill Democrats support legislation that will lower energy costs for consumers while providing greater revenues to the federal government?
Sen. DeWine should be asked these same questions...say, that's a great idea...I'll do Majority Leader Boehner the favor of sending the senator an email...

Kevin Kennedy from ANWR.org dropped by and he recommends that we take take
action. I couldn't agree more as this is a vital issue that needs to be addressed.

AP News Alert:
WASHINGTON (AP) The House has approved oil drilling in an Alaska wildlife refuge, although prospects for the bill are slim in the Senate.
Senator DeWine, I'm patiently awaiting an answer to Majority Leader Boehner's questions...
4:35PM Update
Majority Leader John Boehner on the passage of the act:
"Today's victory on the American-Made Energy and Good Jobs Act underscores House Republicans' commitment to bolstering America's energy independence and safeguarding our economy. This bill authorizes environmentally safe energy production on just 2,000 of ANWR's 20 million acres. ANWR energy development will provide nearly 1.5 million barrels of oil each day - roughly equivalent to what we import from Saudi Arabia - and will create more than a million new jobs.
"Chairman Pombo deserves great credit for putting together legislation that will increase U.S. energy security and independence, safeguard our economy, and create new American jobs. For the American people, it provides a clear choice between Republicans' focus on lowering energy prices and boosting American energy supplies, and Capitol Hill Democrats who are standing in the way of increased American energy production and job creation."
Will Senator DeWine vote for it?
