"Since its first day as a nation, Israel has lived under a cloud of aggression from militant extremists and hostile neighboring governments. The aggressive, unprovoked acts of violence by Hezbollah and Hamas demonstrate that peace is not their goal, and they deserve the rapid and decisive response they received.
"The rise of Islamic fundamentalism in the Middle East has real security implications, not only for Israel, but also for the United States. The same ideologically malevolent forces working to destroy Israel are working to destroy our American values. These values are at the foundation of our relationship with Israel - democracy, freedom, and peace. Just as our commitment to these values remain steadfast, so will our support for Israel. I'd like to thank Chairman Hyde and Ranking Member Lantos for joining me in working on this resolution in a bipartisan manner to send a strong message of support to Israel."
H.Res. 921, a resolution to reaffirm the House of Representative's support for Israel, condemn both Hezbollah and Hamas for their actions, and condemn the governments of Iran and Syria for their continued support for Hezbollah and Hamas passed the House today.
