Sen. Schumer has said the following about a proposed pipeline that was to be built in an area with a lot of pine trees:
"When you have a natural resource as important and unique as the Pine Barrens, the last thing you do is build a pipeline directly through the middle of it," Schumer said. "Fortunately, KeySpan is willing to build the pipeline below the shoulder of the Long Island Expressway, and that's why it's so vital that the FHA grant KeySpan's waiver application, saving the Central Pine Barrens from disruption and thousands of trees from destruction."To make it even more interesting, what Schumer is advocating here will require a waiver from the federal government to ignore federal law on building pipelines near federal roadways.
Remember this: the good folks of that community association in Long Island are talking about three pipelines running about 50 feet from private property. And did I mention that all of this is taking place at the only entrance to a community of hundreds of people? But Schumer is more concerned with the trees than he is voters...
And let's not forget the children either...
Mark's Remarks
Folks, Chuck the Schmuck is taking care of his real constituency, all the kook Kos Kids fringe out there. After all, I would lay dollars to donuts that most of his PAC and campaign money comes not from local donors, but from out of state environmental kook whackos who would advocate putting thousands of humans at risk just to save some trees.
Democrats in Congress do not represent their states or the interests of those in the states which voted for them. Rather, they represent the interests of the DNC coffers, which is kowtowing to every kook fringe group, bowing at the altar of DailyKos, licking the jackboots of George Soros, and kissing the posteriors of codepink and moveon.org. They don't care what their constituents have to deal with, as long as the 527 media gives them national credit for being "progressive" and being in tune with that mentality.
So, am I surprised Chuckie and Co. in New York have ignored their hardworking constituents? Not at all. It fits in with the Dem M.O., that' modus operandi, or standard practices, for those of you who live in Cleveland.
