Gubernatorial candidate Ken Blackwell has considerably narrowed the gap with Congressman Ted Strickland in the latest Rasmussen Reports survey released today. The survey shows a continuing trend of Blackwell gaining momentum and Strickland losing ground as voters begin to focus on the fall campaign. Blackwell trails Strickland by 12 points. Strickland’s lead in the survey has dropped from 25 points in August to 19 points in September to today’s 12-point margin. He's still behind by 12...but the trend is heading in the right direction... There is still a LOT of work to be done...
“The more voters learn about Congressman Strickland’s empty agenda and bad ideas the less they approve,” Blackwell campaign chair Lara Mastin said. “Ken Blackwell has a positive plan to create Ohio jobs by improving education and health care, cutting taxes and changing the way government operates in Columbus.”
“Ken Blackwell offers a positive change of direction for Ohio families and voters are listening,” Mastin added. “He understands the challenges Ohioans face and has offered solutions.”
Other recent polls illustrate the extent of Strickland’s downward slide. A September 20 Survey USA poll showed Strickland’s lead at 21, a September 22 Columbus Dispatch poll showed the lead at 19, and a September 27 Plain Dealer/Mason-Dixon poll showed the lead at 17.
Today’s Rasmussen Reports survey of 500 likely voters has a +/- 4.5 percent margin of error.
