Enquirer Endorses Blackwell and DeWine

This is a harbinger of a Blackwell victory. The Enquirer NEVER backs a Republican unless they know that Republican is going to win.
What Ohio needs is a governor with strong ideas to increase Ohio employment, improve Ohio education and stem the flow of Ohioans seeking better opportunities elsewhere.

In our view, Blackwell is offering those ideas, while Strickland is not.

There is no question that Ken Blackwell is not Bob Taft. In fact, he has been one of Taft’s harshest critics on economic policies over the past eight years.
I'm smelling an upset here...

UPDATE: The Enquirer also endorsed Mike DeWine for the US Senate. This one really is a no-brainer and no risk taken on the part of the newpaper for this one.
The embattled DeWine, who among other things drafted several bills to combat unfair Chinese trade practices, must be shaking his head these days. He has carved out a niche as a low-key but effective moderate with an especially strong record on child, family and health issues.

The public’s distress over Iraq and its well-founded anger over scandals in state government and in Congress aside, there is simply no good reason for Ohio to toss out such an effective senator. We endorse DeWine for re-election. Ohioans shouldn’t vote to lose his valuable experience and voice in the Senate just to “send a message” that’s being sent loud and clear in other races this fall.
I'll add that conservatives shouldn't not vote to send another kind of message to Washington...majorities matter.
