RNC Conference Call

I'm getting something of a late start today on the blog as I have been doing internet radio most of the morning having sat in with Justin for Kender's morning show and then Ric O.'s Radio Hounds show.

I had to pull double duty in the last half hour of Radio Hounds so that I could listen in on an RNC conference call with bloggers and talk radio folks. Here is some of what I reported on Rick Moran's show after the call...

TURNOUT appears to be high so far, but especially so in Virginia. 4 out of 10 voters in Vrginia voted absentee and there are indications that Virginia is going VERY WELL for the GOP.

An interesting development in New Mexico-01, where Heather Wilson is in for a fight to keep her seat in the GOP column. Apparently, they ran short of ballots early this morning...

Also heard a very positive portrayal of the situation in both Michigan and Montana. Montana has an interesting trend wherein the undecided voters tend to vote GOP rather than Democrat...so keep that in mind.

MOMENTUM. One of the more fascinating trends to watch develop in the last few days is the GOP momentum. It all started about 10 days ago when John Kerry opened up his mouth and reminded Americans that there wa sa war on... 8 in 10 voters were said to be "familiar" with the comments; 19% of voters polled indicated that they would not support Democrats in this election cycle becuase of those comments; and 18% of independents indcated that they wouldn't be voting D either because of the Kerry Kerfuffle.

EXIT POLLS can't be trusted. Take Missouri for instance. Pollsters get paid based on the number of respondents they get, so they naturally stick to the cities...but Missouri gets the bulk of its voters from outside the metropolitan areas. Once more, the polling companies haven't figured out how to predict what is actually happening even on E-Day itself!

ON TO VICTORY!

Please be sure to tune in to a special Matt Hurley Show tonight...special guests: in studio, Mark G.; calling in (6:30) Ben Keeler, (7:00) Tom Blumer, (7:30) Paul Miller, and (8:00) Matt Dole. TBA: Dave and Viking Spirit.
