Salem News: "Ohioans should re-elect DeWine"

Another endorsement for Senator Mike DeWine, this time from the Salem (Ohio) News:
Sen. Mike DeWine does not deserve to be caught up in an anti-Republican backlash at the polls Tuesday.

He deserves Ohioans’ vote to send him back for another term in the Senate. Despite Democrat Sherrod Brown’s attempts to tar DeWine with the brush of various Ohio Republican scandals, it must be remembered that DeWine isn’t part of the corruption.

He’s a senator in a powerful position who can help Ohio advance.

Brown has been running a mostly negative campaign, trying to keep the focus on what he thinks is wrong with DeWine instead of telling us what’s right about Brown.

We think Brown’s track record shows him to be mostly a political opportunist, moving up the chain in Ohio whenever conditions are ripe. The Senate to him would be nothing more than a nice notch for his resume.

DeWine has proven he’s his own man, not a party functionary, taking stands that are unpopular with the GOP in the name of doing what’s right for the nation.
Emphasis added.

While Senator DeWine isn't as conservative as most of us conservatives would like, he is the best choice for Ohio in this race and he does deserve conservative support.
