Worst Economy Since Hoover Update

AP News Alert:
WASHINGTON (AP) The Labor Department says the nation's unemployment rate fell to 4.4 percent in October, the lowest in five years. Employers added 92,000 jobs.
I blame Bush...and the Republican majority in Congress.

UPDATE: Majority Leader John Boehner (via email):
"Republicans have worked tirelessly to ease the tax burden on American families and small businesses and today's jobs numbers provide more evidence that tax relief continues to pay dividends for our economy. Our growing economy has created good-paying jobs, spawned the fastest wage growth in more than five years, and produced a surging stock market that is increasing the value of Americans' pensions and retirement savings plans each and every day.

"The fact is Capitol Hill Democrats have opposed Republicans' efforts to provide tax relief at every opportunity. Even now, Democrats have stated publicly that they do not intend to renew the tax relief put in place by President Bush. If the Democrats have their way, a family of four will not only see their tax bill increase by more than $2,000, but it would have a devastating impact on our overall economy.

"A massive Democrat tax increase would bring our robust economic growth to a halt, cut off the flow of business investment and curtail consumer spending, and ultimately cost Americans millions of jobs. A huge tax increase would be disastrous for our economy, and that's why the American people oppose the Democrats' plans to raise taxes at every opportunity."
