Super Bowl: Are You Ready For Some Self-Flagellation?

How about some guilt? Well, that is what all the hype is going to be about because, in case you haven't heard it for the 1000000000th time, this Super Bowl will be the first with two black head coaches, Tony Dungy of the Colts and Lovie Smith of the Bears. Why is it the Lefty Dinosaur Reactionary DriveBy Media has to try to take us back to times when race was the dominant issue? We really do need to move past this.

Now don't get me wrong, as an historian, I recognize the significance of this, but really, aren't we past this? Aren't we diminishing and etching away at what Dr. King really wanted when the first thing we say about each of these coaches is that they are black? I mean, I do believe I read somewhere where Dr. King wanted a color blind society, one that did not notice whether you were white or black, but just judged you on the content of your character. I do believe he talked about character being the driving force, not race. I guess Jesse Jackson and the Drive Bys didn't listen to that speech or get that memo.

I think you diminish people when all you talk about is their race. I mean, is it just because Dungy and Smith are black that they got the job? I don't think so. Both his and Lovie Smith's life stories and resumes are impressive. These guys started out with nothing and rose to the top, like any American with a dream. Why should we constantly listen to and get played the Guilt Game by the media? Why do we first have to recognize the fact they are black before they are good coaches? Why can't we just say they were the two coaches of the best teams and leave it at that? Why must we bring race into this, in this day and age?

Why must we be made to feel guilty about something good? I mean, these guys aren't just living out the African American dream, but the American dream. Why do we have to always bring the race issue in? When I think of coaches, I don't look at their color. I look at their stats and history. I look at their character. Race should not even be at the forefront, but the drive by media has to bring up race. We must be balkanized, because then, we can never come together and liberals get to keep us all divided and at cross purposes. Only liberalism feeds on class warfare, race warfare, all of the things that the media empahsizes during stories like this.

We must be made to feel guilty by the media, because America is bad. America is evil, racist, sexist, and so on. That is what these liberals in the media think. They think that when these stories happen, America just might be lumbering into where it should be. The fact of the matter is, the liberals haven't been paying attention. We ARE truly past the days where race was an issue, at least we could be, if that wasn't what was always emphasized.

I mean, let's even look statistically at all this. There are 4 or five black head coaches in the NFL out of 30 teams. That is a higher percentage than the black population of the US. That is great, but instead we are made to feel guilty becuase every black person who thinks they can coach isn't given a job. But wait, let's look at other stats. 75% or more of players in the NFL are black now. Should I celebrate everytime a white guy gets a job in the NFL as some type of racial victory? I think not. It is absurd, and it diminishes people to put them into these racial categories. They are Americans, first.

By always bringing up race, you diminish the accomplishments of these people, both of whom made it not because the are black or minority, but because they took hold of the opportunities, fought hard, and made something of their dreams, something available to all Americans. When I watch the Super Bowl, I will be watching two great coaches, period.
