Congressman John Boehner (R-OH) today issued the following statement following passage of H.R. 976, the Small Business Tax Relief Act of 2007:
“The bipartisan passage of the Small Business Tax Relief Act is a victory for House Republicans as well as the small business owners who are directly impacted by the recently mandated increase in the minimum wage. With this bill, Democratic Leaders have conceded to House Republicans that small businesses and workers need protection from federal wage controls that raise costs and eliminate job opportunities.
“The bill on the House floor is not perfect, and we must do more to help blunt the adverse impact of increasing the minimum wage on small business owners and their workers, many of whom the increase was meant to help. Before this bill is sent to the President’s desk, I’m hopeful Republicans and Democrats can work together to protect these jobs and provide additional tax relief for those small businesses impacted by the wage mandate.”
