Bennett on Strickland's State of the State

Via a Bob Bennett fund raising letter received via email:
Ronald Reagan used to say the most terrifying words in the English language are "I'm from the government, and I'm here to help."

Unfortunately, that pretty much sums up Ted Strickland's plan for Ohio. Lots of government handouts and no plan to pay for them.

Today, in his State of the State address, he rolled out a liberal laundry list of bloated entitlement programs and wrapped them up with some empty rhetoric on limiting government spending.

And what's his plan for school funding?

We're still waiting. Aside from the usual platitudes, he still hasn't offered any specifics.

Strickland promised during the campaign to make education his top priority and even offered to have a school funding plan when he took office. But now he calls it "disingenuous to assume that less than a month after I assumed this office that I'm going to have a solution to this problem."

That's not leadership. And it's likely just the first of what is sure to be many of Strickland's broken campaign promises.
I'm resisting the urge to insert a Bob Taft slam here... Strickland is going to be an awful governor and I have no idea why anybody expected him to actually practice fiscal conservatism once he got to the mansion...
