The Quinnipiac University poll also found that former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani leads the Republican contenders among voters in Ohio , which tipped the 2004 election for President Bush. Giuliani is favored by 31 percent of Republicans, compared with 20 percent for Sen. John McCain, 8 percent for former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and 6 percent each for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and actor and former Sen. Fred Thompson. This is the first poll that has mentioned Fred Thompson and you can't count him out yet because he's not even running yet. But these are very good numbers for Rudy at this point. I suspect that Ohio voters will ultimately come out for Rudy even in the matchup against Hillary.

The poll, which has an overall margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points, surveyed 1,122 Ohio voters by phone from March 13 to Monday. When broken down by party, the survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.
In a hypothetical matchup, Clinton was slightly ahead of Giuliani, 46 percent to 43 percent, about the margin of error. However, the survey showed that 41 percent of Ohio voters view Clinton unfavorably, while only 22 percent saw Giuliani in a negative light.
The double-digit leads over McCain continue to happen...and I couldn't be happier.
