Democrats Actually Believe They Are Better Generals Than the Generals

Via email:
After agreeing on a bill that compromises America 's national security, Democratic leaders explained why they've move up America 's surrender date in Iraq : because Democrats think they know better than our generals.

Don't believe us? Consider this comment from Rep. John Murtha (D-PA), one of the principal authors of Democrats' slow-bleed strategy to choke off funding for our troops and set a date certain for surrender. When asked on CNN whether he thought it was appropriate for 535 Washington politicians to be micromanaging a war effort thousands of miles away, Murtha responded:
JOHN ROBERTS: You heard what President Bush said, that Congress shouldn't be micromanaging the war. What do you say?

REP. JOHN MURTHA: That's our job, John.
Lucky for Murtha, his colleagues agree. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), who originally voted with his fellow Democrats to confirm General Petraeus for his position as U.S. Commander of the Multinational Force in Iraq, now believes he too knows better than the general. After bizarrely claiming the war is "lost," Reid was asked by CNN if he would go into tomorrow's briefing with General Petraeus with an open mind. He responded:
DANA BASH: [President Bush] also said that General Petraeus is going to come to the Hill and make it clear to you that there is progress going on in Iraq . That the so-called surge is working. Will you believe him when he says that?

SEN. REID: No. I don't believe him. Because it's not happening. All you have to do is look at facts.
It begs the question: why would Senator Reid support a general in January he won't listen to in April?
It is not Congress' job to micromange military matters. The Consitution clearly shows that there is ONE Commander-in-Chief and it isn't John Murtha or Harry Reid. Perhaps the distinguished gentlemen ought to pick up a copy and read it...
