Amend is Out of Butler County Commissioner Race

The Oxford Press reports:
Just as suddenly as he entered the race for county commission, businessman Greg Amend dropped out.

Amend, chief executive of Valco Cincinnati Inc. in West Chester Twp. and Butler County MetroParks Commissioner, said his commitments to his business, family and MetroParks led him to bow out just six weeks after announcing his candidacy. He did not file signed petitions with the county Board of Elections to make his bid official.

Particularly, the former Liberty Twp. trustee said the Metroparks commission is busy with creating a master plan for development of the Voice of America Park in West Chester and making plans for the newly acquired 468-acre Hueston Farm and Forest Preserve in Hanover Twp. He didn't know when he took out petitions for county commissioner that MetroParks Director Mike Muska would be retiring amid all that activity, Amend said.

"It's just too much going on right now," Amend said. "I don't think it would be fair to bail on them now. I think we need to finish the job."
That leaves incumbent Charles Furmon and Rawnica Dillingham in the primary race. That should also remove any consideration that Amend might have received for replacing Mike Fox.

And let me go on record as saying that Amend is pretty much a scum bag for violating Reagan's 11th Commandment. You NEVER tell somebody in the press that a fellow Republican isn't "qualified to run for dog catcher." That is just inappropriate. You want to throw your support behind the incumbent, fine; but don't be no-class Kossack doing it.

And don't believe this for a moment...
Though some skeptics may think this is another maneuver orchestrated by the Butler County GOP's leadership to avoid a contentious primary, Amend said that's not the case.

"I don't play games. I don't need to," Amend said. "No one pushes my buttons, especially not party leadership."
Uh-huh...I'm not buying it.
