Part of Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann’s job is to represent the state of Ohio in court matters, whether he agrees with the state’s position or not. Buckeye State voters did not elect him to follow his own personal agendas, but to represent them.It really shouldn't matter whether or not the case fits the Attorney General's political agenda, he has a responsibility to represent the state...that is, after all, what the job entails and why he was elected. As we are coming to discover, this batch of Democrats that were just elected appear to put politics over the honest performance of their duties. Ohioans voted for change in November...too bad they aren't getting it.
Unfortunately, it is uncertain whether Dann recognizes that responsibility, to judge by his reaction concerning a case being considered by the state Supreme Court.
Perhaps the Intelligencer article sums it up best:
Dann was not elected to defend the state when and if he chooses to do so. He was elected to represent the state in all matters involving the law. Ohioans, regardless of their views on the lawsuit limits issue, should insist that Dann do his job.I won't be holding my breath...
