Boehner Expresses Disappointment in Majority's Refusal to Negotiate Clean Troop Funding Measure

Via email:
Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) released the following statement today expressing disappointment in the refusal by majority party leaders to negotiate and craft a clean troop funding bill the President can sign into law:
“It’s clear that Democratic leaders came into today’s meeting with Republicans and the White House with little interest in working together on a clean troop funding bill. While the delay in funding is already impacting our troops, the majority in Congress is spinning its wheels, insisting on a bill that ties troop funding to arbitrary timelines and conditions, hamstringing our generals and undermining our chances for success against al Qaeda. Republicans believe that the generals on the ground ought to be making decisions about how best to wage the war in Iraq, not Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

“Our troops are doing their duty fighting for our freedom, and they deserve the full support of this Congress. Republicans remain committed to working with our colleagues to produce a clean troop funding bill by Memorial Day.”
