Civil War Trip--Initial Impressions

Met up with the Eureka College folks in downtown Cincinnati at the Harriet Beecher Stowe House. I would like to tell you more about it, but the house was closed. Instead, we went to the hotel and then toured around the Norwood lateral, stopping at Wal-Mart and Rookwood Commons, where we ate at Max and Erma's and toured the strip mall there. I will post a pic of the Beecher House when I get an opportunity to access the camera cords.

So far, I am feeling all of my 31 years. Granted, some of these young'uns are just 7 years younger than me, but my goodness, talk about fifth wheel syndrome. It is my hope to get closer with some of these.

My initial impressions are that this will be an interesting and not only informative trip, but one of personal discovery as well. The professor in charge, Dr. J. Rodriguez, was a consultant on part of the Underground Railroad Freedom Center. We will be seeing that tomorrow, along with meeting up with a former Eureka professor who wrote a seminal work on the Underground Railroad. More on that tomorrow....
