House Armed Services Subcommittee Recommendation

CQ Politics:
Two House Armed Services subcommittees today recommended more spending for equipment to protect special operations soldiers in the field, vehicles that can resist roadside bombs, and additional ships and submarines for the Navy.
A nice pay day for the US Special Operations Command, and the United States Navy:
The Seapower and Expeditionary Forces Subcommittee also forwarded its $60 billion section of the bill to the full committee by voice vote. It includes $2.7 billion more than President Bush requested to build a second amphibious attack ship, a second supply ship, and a propulsion system for a nuclear attack submarine.
One more markup to go before the bill goes to the full committee.

The only way this story could make me any happier is if there was a built-in commitment to fund it through de-funding pork projects (also known as earmarks; or whatever the Demcorats are calling them these days).
