Rawnica Update: "Giving due credit"

I wanted to highlight this letter to the editor in the Hamilton Journal-News:
I consider myself an individual who remains close to the affairs and events of my community. Recently I read how the JournalNews described Sen. Gary Cates as an individual who has been at the forefront of foster care reform throughout the state.

I think the JournalNews has been remiss in omitting the fact that all this new legislation and reform began with Rawnica Dillingham calling a press conference last fall and presenting Rep. Courtney Combs with her legislative proposals, all of which were designed to protect our children in the child protective system throughout Ohio.

As I recall, it was also Rawnica Dillingham who threatened commissioners with a referendum regarding the sales tax unless they agreed to support legislation targeted at protecting seniors living on fixed incomes against soaring taxes. They later agreed with her.

Again, after Dillingham made sound suggestions to help people in our community, certain legislators jumped on the bandwagon in the hopes of grabbing some press, as a result of her efforts.

Rawnica Dillingham, as a candidate for Butler County commissioner, has already accomplished more for our community then people who have held office for years.

On a more personal note, Rawnica lives in that house on the corner of Morman and Stahlheber roads and last Christmas gave our community one of the best light displays that could be found anywhere in Butler County.

I believe she is a woman with a good heart and has already earned the trust and admiration of many in the community. She is an activist who should make us all proud, especially women with future political aspirations.

I have worked closely with her on many community projects regarding mental health awareness and am proud to call her my friend.
