Strickland Continues to Play Politics with Troops

This is ONN:
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Governor Strickland isn't happy with President Bush.

Strickland says the president never responded to an earlier letter asking Bush for his personal assurances that Ohio National Guard troops are receiving adequate training and equipment before being deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.

The governor has now sent a second letter via certified mail.

The move comes as the Department of Defense has issued an alert for roughly 160 soldiers of the 838th Military Police Company in Youngstown. They are to report to Fort Dix in New Jersey in September.

In a March report to Congress, the Commission on the National Guard and Reserves found that nearly 88 percent of Army National Guard units lack trucks, radios and other gear.

A White House spokesman says the president will continue to work with the Pentagon to address Strickland's concerns.
Perhaps Strickland should have stayed in Congress and voted for the supplemental. Maybe with one more voice on the left side of the aisle barking for adequate funding for the troops, Nancy Pelosi's Do-Nothing Congress wouldn't have taken over 100 days to get a bill to the President's desk that didn't call for surrender.

Of course, Teddy would never have done that. Only now that he is governor of Ohio does he actually care about what is happening with Ohio's guardsmen. And the only reason why he cares at all is that he thinks this plays well with Ohio's electorate. I don't think it does...

Strickland is hacked off because the President of the United States didn't take ten minutes out of his busy day to pen him a love letter. Boo-frickin'-hoo, Governor...
