Boehner Statement on Passing of Senator Craig Thomas

Via email:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement on the passing of Senator Craig Thomas (R-WY):
“I knew Craig as a friend and colleague in the House, and his constituents knew him as a committed public servant completely devoted to their interests as well as those of all Americans. We all owe Craig an enormous debt of gratitude for the contributions he made to both the House and Senate. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, staff, and constituents.”
NOTE: In 1989, Craig Thomas won a special election to replace Dick Cheney in the House of Representatives after Cheney was named Secretary of Defense. Thomas was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1994, and to subsequent terms in both 2000 and 2006 with more than 70 percent of the vote.
