The Fred Tops Rasmussen

From Rasmussen:
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson earning support from 28% of Likely Republican Primary Voters. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani attracts support from 27%. While Thompson’s one-point edge is statistically insignificant, it is the first time all year that anybody but Giuliani has been on top in Rasmussen Reports polling. A week ago, Thompson and Giuliani were tied at 24%.
It is still awful early for these polls to have any real meaning beyond determining who is getting any kind of name recognition, but it is interesting to see that Rudy now has a serious challenger. Look for these two to do serious battle as we get closer to the finish line. It will be interesting to see who attacks The Fred first: Rudy for being so close to him; or Mitt McCain for knocking them out...

Also note that this is the first poll without Gingrich (who got 7% last week)...and 18% are still undecided.
