RINOvich Spin Cycle Starts

Here is what The Crying Man, our Sen. RINOvich had to say about the miraculous 180 degree turnaround of his vote in under 24 hours:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator George V. Voinovich (R-OH) today released the following statement after voting against cloture on the Senate immigration bill. The voted failed 46 to 53:
“I want an immigration bill that secures our borders, revises and updates our current laws to respond to our economic needs and brings the 12 million illegal aliens in our country out of the shadows. I am not convinced that this legislation meets those criteria. As ranking member of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Oversight of Government Management, the Federal Workforce and the District of Columbia, I have concerns regarding how all the provisions in this bill could practically be implemented by the Department of Homeland Security. I also think it’s important that we respond to concerns raised about the bill by the American public.”
(HT: BizzyBlog who has more to say on the matter here.)

Let's not forget that word came out that RINOvich wanted to hear from his constituents to help him make up his mind on the bill only to go on to Sean Hannity's show and say that he was intimidated by all the calls that he received.

The telling thing that this is a calculated political move intended to save his @$$ is the fact that he was the last senator to vote on the issue. By the time the name Voinovich was called out, the bill had already been killed. Does this not sound like John McCain saying, "I don't want the fence, but if they (the American People) want it, I'll give them the goddamn fence."? This is political theatre at its bet, folks.

This line sticks out:
I also think it’s important that we respond to concerns raised about the bill by the American public.”
Would the senator care to elaborate on just what those issues are? Or does he not know what this was all about? Is Voinovich's position: "I'm for what the People want, whatever that is?" Allow me to translate that position: "I have no idea what the People want because they intimidate me even though I said, 'You Do Not Intimidate George Voinovich.' and furthermore, I really don't care what the People think anyway."

We're supposed to buy this???

Senator, I don't give a damn if you are the President of Mexico, you need to find out why the American people and your constitents are against this bill. Telling us your resume isn't going to impress anybody after that performance you gave on a nationally syndicated radio show with the second largest audience in the world. You failed to display a depth of knowledge of any subject, let alone this immigration bill...

Don't be fooled, folks. We need to keep asking Voinovich what changed in the last 24 hours before that vote to make him change positions...if he says anything other than it was a calculate political move intended to give him cover with the base of the Republican Party in Ohio, don't accept the answer.

INSTA-UPDATE: Don't let Sherrod Brown off the hook either...
