Infrastructure funding for the Cincinnati Central Riverfront Park has been included in a House appropriations bill that is expected to be approved Tuesday. This is pork plain and simple. If this money can't be raised by the business community or private investments, the park shouldn't be built. Parking lots between the two stadiums are probably more useful at any rate.
The bill will provide $250,000 for bank stabilization and help with flood control, according to a news release from Reps. Steve Chabot (R-Westwood), and Jean Schmidt (R-Miami Township).
"This demonstrates a continued federal commitment to the riverfront project," Chabot said in the release. "The local delegation needs to continue to work together to keep this project a priority for Congress."
The park will be located between the Great American Ball Park and Paul Brown Stadium on the riverfront.
