Rawnica Update

Rawnica writes about a chance meeting with Charles Furmon last week over at her MySpace page:
Last night, Friday, July 13th, Joe and I went out to Anthony's Cigar Bar in West Chester. Some friends were celebrity bartenders. The point was to help a business experiencing financial difficulties because of the recently passed smoking ban. It was not about whether you favored the ban or not. It was just about helping a troubled small business. Also, to raise funds for The West Chester Community Foundation.

The celebrity bartenders were West Chester TWP. Trustee George Lang, Liberty TWP. Trustee Pat Hiltman, Auditor Kay Rogers and Senator Gary Cates.

The place was packed.

In walks, Sheriff Rick Jones, Commissioner Don Dixon, Hamilton Councilman Ed Shelton AND MY OPPONENT, Charles Furmon. All accompanied by their lovely wives.

Rick Jones, Don Dixon and Ed Shelton all come right over to where Joe and I are sitting to say hello, hugs, shake hands, etc.

I asked the waiter to send a round of drinks over to the entire group with my compliments. My opponent declined. So did the others, trying to be considerate of him. I understood. I know they are my friends.

So the band singer announces: "Ladies and gentleman, we have Rawnica Dillingham with us tonight, she will be coming around to say hello, she is running for County Commissioner, give her a warm welcome as well as your vote."

My opponent gets visibly upset, his wife scowls, and they leave. Dragging the others out with them! Of course Rick Jones, Don Dixon and Ed Shelton took time to tell Joe and I goodbye before leaving.

I WAS SHOCKED! WE WERE BOTH THERE FOR THE SAME REASON! TO SUPPORT A SMALL BUSINESSMAN AND RAISE MONEY FOR A GOOD CAUSE!

If two political adversaries have something in common shouldn't they join together and express that for the world to see? Why be hateful?
One commenter had this to say:
I hope someone leaks this guy's immaturity to the Society Pages.
Well, we're not the society pages; but we do have a segment of Furmon's community in our readership...
