WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter on Wednesday denounced Vice President Dick Cheney as a "disaster" for the country and a "militant" who has had an excessive influence in setting foreign policy.
Cheney has been on the wrong side of the debate on many issues, including an internal White House discussion over Syria in which the vice president is thought to be pushing a tough approach, Carter said.
"He's a militant who avoided any service of his own in the military and he has been most forceful in the last 10 years or more in fulfilling some of his more ancient commitments that the United States has a right to inject its power through military means in other parts of the world," Carter told the BBC World News America in an interview to air later on Wednesday.
"You know he's been a disaster for our country," Carter said. "I think he's been overly persuasive on President George Bush and quite often he's prevailed."
OK, so we are going to pull out the military service card. Then why didn't you attack Bubba when he ordered troops into excursions around the world? He didn't serve, so what gives him the right to inject himself on foreign policy, Jimmah? Hmm? Then, Jimmy moves on and talks about not being too tough on Syria...Hey Jimmah, how did that work with Iran? How did that work with Russia? If it hadn't been for your bungling of Iran and Afghanistan, America might not be having to deal with those threats. If you had done it right, we wouldn't have had to liberate Afghanistan, we wouldn't be fighting against Iranian munitions. Oh, and Jimmah, what about your buddies, you know the terrorists in Hamas?
This man is a disgrace who should be villified. The only reason he won the Nobel was because the committee is a bunch of moonbats who wanted to make a statement about Iraq. Jimmah, shut up, pick up your hammer, and go build some houses. Or better yet....build a nice casket and fall into it.
