Moll Release: Moll Talks with Residents in Athens Ohio While Space Jet-Sets to Athens Greece

Jeanette Moll: the only 'special interest' to her
is people of eastern and southeastern Ohio.

ATHENS, OHIO 11/26/07 - Conservative Republican candidate for Congress in Ohio's 18th congressional district Jeanette Moll today denounced Zack Space's congressional junket to Greece as exactly the type of activity he promised the people of the district he would avoid. While campaigning in Athens County, Ohio, Moll noted that Space was in Athens, Greece.

"Zack Space doesn't seem to understand that his constituents expect their member of Congress to focus on the concerns of people in Athens, Ohio - not Athens, Greece." Moll said.

In 2006, Space made a major campaign issue of congressional junkets. Less than one year into his term, he has reversed course and is jet-setting to Greece with his wife. Only after members of the news media uncovered Space's attempt to stick taxpayers with the cost of a posh and luxurious hotel for him and his wife did Space backpedal and agree to pay for a portion of the trip himself.

"It's nice that Zack Space wants a first-class jaunt to Greece to research his family history," Moll continued. "But he should be ashamed of himself for asking taxpayers to foot the bill."

This isn't the first time Space's actions are at odds with his campaign promises. In less than a year on the job, Space has already voted for higher taxes, against the war on terror, and has undercut the ability of small business owners to stay in business.

Moll says her run is based in part on the need to send an upstanding conservative leader who shares the values of people in eastern and southeastern Ohio.

"I'm running to replace Zack Space because - especially after the scandals and troubles our district saw in 2006 -- we need a leader who will serve with integrity," Moll concluded. "This latest scandal shows that Zack Space is ethically-challenged."

Jeanette Moll is a practicing attorney and former Magistrate in Guernsey County. She helped open the Washington, D.C. office of Ducks Unlimited before moving back to Ohio to attend law school and raise her family. Wife and mother of two daughters and adoptive mother of three children adopted through Muskingum County Children's Services, Moll has focused much of her life on family, faith and community.
