Study: Dem Energy Bill Kills Five Million American Jobs, Cuts U.S. Economic Output by $1 Trillion

This just in...
Washington, DC – House Republican Leader John Boehner issued the following statement condemning the Majority’s “no American energy” legislation following the release of an independent study which concludes that, if enacted, the bill could result in a net loss of five million family-wage jobs and $1 trillion in U.S. economic output:
“Abundant and affordable supplies of energy are critical to our economy and every American family’s quality of life, but the majority’s legislation offers an abundance of nothing but green pork, red tape, and – according to a new study – as many as five million pink slips for American workers. By cutting off American energy supplies and hiking taxes on producers, the majority’s legislation – which is being finalized in secret – would undermine the U.S. economy by sending good jobs and massive capital investments overseas to countries like China and India, while American consumers are left with energy shortages that force them to choose between paying the home-heating bills and their kids’ Little League entry fees.

“Meeting in secret to craft policies that restrict supplies amid rising demand may be the OPEC cartel’s standard procedure for increasing prices and profits, but that is not a process or a policy that should be adopted by the United States Congress. The American people sent their elected leaders to Washington to solve problems; to work together to make America stronger, and to improve each citizen’s quality of life. Creating an energy shortage in the commodities that fuel our economy will do neither, and as this study plainly illustrates, it’s a recipe for economic disaster.”
NOTE: A study by CRA International, a leading economic forecasting and consulting organization, found that the combined effect of the Majority’s legislative provisions would be to simultaneously decrease the supply and increase the costs of energy supplies to the U.S. economy. These changes would be expected to reverberate through the economy and result in higher energy costs, a loss of 5 million American jobs, and a $1 trillion decrease in U.S. economic output.
Why do Democrats HATE Americans having jobs?
