Thoughts on OH-05

I have been somewhat remiss in covering the primary for OH-05 because as the race heated up, so did the rhetoric. This race is the perfect example of what is wrong with politics today. And nobody has put that in to perspective better than Luke:
Both of these guys are really irritating me with all of their advertisements...even though I haven't actually seen an ad directly from Beuhrer, just his cronies at the Club for Growth PAC.

It seems like Club for Growth is calling Latta a "tax and spend liberal" because of one more vote than Beuhrer. Really? 3000 votes and one vote makes you a liberal? Or does it take just one more vote than the opponent to make you a liberal? I'm confused. Both of them voted for tax increases in two other votes, but because Latta voted for one more than Beuhrer, he's a tax and spend liberal. No wonder so many people hate politics.
I am tired of the bridge burning and scorched earth tactics that these 527 groups are using. Ohio Republicans need to get their act together and we aren't going to do that by further dividing ourselves. What we need to do is come to the realization that Ohio is neither uber-liberal nor ultra-conservative. We need candidates that appeal to a broad base of constituency.

Should we abandon principles to do it? No. But we should let Club for Growth determine who is and who is not conservative for Ohioans. We can do that pretty well on our own, thanks. The records of these two gentlemen speak for themselves...

I suspect that Paul Gillmor would be appalled by the Big Show we are seeing in this race to succeed him.
