Heimlich to Make it Official Tomorrow

Check out the latest from the Land of Phil:
Phil Heimlich, Republican candidate for Ohio’s 2nd District Congressional seat, will file papers at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Hamilton County Board of Elections making him an official candidate in the March 4 Republican primary.

“I have spent the past seven months building my campaign, meeting with voters and raising money toward the goal of preventing this seat from being surrendered to the Democrats next November,” said Heimlich. “On Friday, I will file the necessary paperwork to place my name on the ballot and offer GOP voters the chance to keep this seat in the Republican column.”
The rest of the news can be read here.

This is great news for Team Schmidt... With Tom Brinkman and Phil Heimlich splitting the anti-Jean vote, the incumbent is virtually guarenteed another victory. And as usual, we can count on the egos of these two to keep it entertaining the whole way to the finish line...

UPDATE: Brinkman responds to announcement:
Cincinnati, OH - Last week, State Representative Tom Brinkman entered the race for the 2nd Congressional District by filing his Statement of Candidacy.

In response to today's announcement, that Phil Heimlich would be filing papers with the Board of Elections on Friday, a spokesman for Tom Brinkman responded,

"We are thrilled that this will be a three way race for the 2nd Congressional Distict seat. Our opponents' records are very similar on many issues, while Tom Brinkman's conservative reputation and voting records will provide the voters in the 2nd District with an exciting contrast.
Good times all around, really...
