Ohio Senate President Harris Endorses Widener

COLUMBUS - Senate President Bill Harris today offered his support and the full backing of the Ohio Senate Republican Caucus to elect State Representative Chris Widener (R-Springfield) to the 10th Senate District. The 10th Senate District includes Clark, Greene and Madison counties.

"Chris Widener has distinguished himself as a strong voice for the Miami Valley and as an effective leader at the Statehouse on its behalf," Harris said. "He is uniquely qualified, and the best candidate to represent 10th Senate District."

Widener, age 44, is a lifelong resident of Clark County. He was raised on a farm, which his family continues to operate today. After graduating from the University of Cincinnati, he worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base as a civil service architect and as the installation's first full-time historic preservation officer. He went on to found his own architectural firm that he has successfully operated for the last 18 years. Widener was elected twice to the Mad River-Greene Local Board of Education prior to beginning his service in the Ohio House of Representatives. He and his wife, Sally, are raising their two children in Springfield.

According to Harris, Widener's grounding in the region and his experiences at Wright Patt, in education, agriculture and as a small businessman have served him well as he has championed strong schools, lower taxes and more job opportunities for working families during his seven years at the Statehouse. He has also proven himself to be strong on the campaign trail.

"I know Chris will continue to work hard every day to earn the support of the voters in Clark, Greene and Madison counties. He has our full support in his bid for the 10th Senate District," Harris said.
